About Us

CHRISTINE NG & LACHMAN is a legal firm based in the most sophisticated and dynamic city of Malaysia, Kuala Lumpur. Founded in August, 2023, the firm has made significant progress and established itself as a vibrant and well-trusted firm it is today. We provide legal services for both contentious and non-contentious matters. Noncontentious matters including real estate transactions, will drafting, probate, letters of administration and various types of commercial agreements. Contentious matters such as debt recovery, divorce, custody matters, an array of civil and commercial disputes, negligence, shareholder disputes. Through past experience and networking over the years, we have also established relationships with other professionals in other jurisdictions and hence placed in a position to provide clients with seamless international professional assistance and referrals.

NG SIEW YE, CHRISTINE

Christine graduated with a Bachelor of Laws (LLB (Hons)) from Aberystwyth University, United Kingdom, in 2010. She completed her Certificate of Legal Practice in 2012 and was admitted as an Advocate & Solicitor of the High Court of Malaya in October 2013 after completing her pupilage at Messrs Yong & Rakan-Rakan.

Her legal practice encompasses civil litigation, employment law, family law, including joint and unilateral divorce cases, drafting Last Will & Testament, applying for Probate and Letters of Administration, debt recovery, landlord and tenant disputes, conveyancing, drafting shareholder and commercial agreements. Christine frequently shares her knowledge on Family Law, Will and Trust, as well as the legal procedures for obtaining Probate and Letter of Administration in the High Court.

In August 2019, Christine was invited to speak at the Rockwills Estate Planning Forum at the Sunway Convention Centre, where she presented on the topic "Understanding Your Rights in Debt & Bankruptcy."

Lachman Kumar

Lachman Kumar graduated with a 2nd Class Division from the University of London, United Kingdom in 2009. He was admitted as an Utter Barrister to the Bar of England and Wales in 2012 and is a member of the Honourable Society of the Middle Temple Inn, London. He was subsequently admitted as an Advocate and Solicitor of the High Court of Malaya in 2013. Lachman Kumar provides strategic legal advice on land, commercial and corporate disputes.
He has experience in disputes involving defamation claims, conspiracy and fraud claims, shareholders’ and directors’ disputes, contractual disputes involving sale of goods, sale of shares, breach of trust and fiduciary duties as well as minority oppression. He also has vast experience in matters involving employment, tenancy, and banking disputes. He has appeared in all levels Court including Sessions Court, High Court, Court of Appeal and the Federal Court.

Some of his involvement include the following:-

-Successfully defended a Bank’s action against the Client, a leading vermicelli manufacturer to safeguard their 10 plots of Lands worth RM21 million.

-Successfully represented a company in an employment dispute to which the Learned Judge magnanimously stated ~ "[33] This Court had also observed that throughout the hearing of this matter, the learned lead Counsel for the Company Mr. Lachman Kumar knowing well that the Claimant was unrepresented by a legally trained person and was conducting the case by herself, had acted with a great measure of candour and courtesy and had put forth the Company’s case professionally despite the Claimant being less than courteous to the learned assisting Counsel for the Company."

-Represented a company in construction matters and successfully resisted an application to set aside a decision obtained by the client for circa RM3 million.

-Acted and successfully opposed a leave application in the Federal Court involving legal questions on jurisdictional issues.

-Successfully defended a client in a unique defamation case involving questions of law on whether a defamation suit could be brought against the client for words uttered during a domestic inquiry proceeding.

-Successfully represented and obtained judgment in favour of 24 clients in a representative action pertaining to land dispute.

-Represented a client in a construction dispute, and successfully defended the suit in the High Court for backcharges worth millions brought by the Plaintiff.

-Successfully argued appeals in the Court of Appeal involving disputes pertaining to sale of goods, breach of fiduciary duty, and breach of contract.
